Facebook Removes 559 Pages, 251 Accounts Spreading U.S. Misinformation

 

 

Six Months after my post "Buying Elections - Using Facebook Data Mining Social Media Propaganda & Activist Group" and One Day! after my post "Evidence Congress Approval Of Using Propaganda On The American People In Bundy Ranch & Beyond -The Smith Mundt Act" where congress sanctioned the governments ability to propagandize the American People!  My account was suspended/locked on Twitter.  Now, Facebook champions themselves as the "hero" in saving America from "click-bait" and "fake news" employing more harsh tactics than were deployed against my personal Facebook page in 2012.  I was posting articles and videos about the truth in local and national politics and the elites plans to control everyone and everything only to find them removed from my wall!  I would re-post them, and BOOM!  Gone again!  I did some investigating on Facebook and came to the conclusion that they weren't just "innocently" removing my posts, considered "dangerous" to the public, but they were most likely a CIA operation, so I closed my account and left.

A month ago Twitter "suspended" my twitter account @PatriotParrot "claiming" it was a bot or I was "bullying" or I was posting "spam".  I tried to contact them by email to prove a "bot" would not send and email specifically defending my fourth amendment and proving I was none of the above.  They sent a response telling me "they don't monitor their email account" and to contact them via Twitter.  Such an approach from a company like Twitter is appalling!  Not to mention my reminding them that they are part of the "public square" in which our right to freedom of speech should be guaranteed.  Just today I received notification that I had 11 new followers ALL championing "crypto currency" in their bio ALL created in September of 2018, now THIS is evidence that Twitter will "allow" "bots" and "spam" accounts to exist if it fits their agenda!  It is with this outrage that I post the news about Facebook purging accounts for these very same reasons.  Several outlets carried the news.

Just in time for midterms, Facebook has removed 559 pages and 251 accounts they claim have been spreading misinformation and spam. Several of the pages however - some with millions of followers, were pro-Trump conservatives who had spent years cultivating their followings.

Facebook claims that "domestic actors" have been creating "fake pages and accounts to attract people with shocking political news," reports Bloomberg.

"The people behind the activity also post the same click-bait posts in dozens of Facebook Groups, often hundreds of times in a short period, to drum up traffic for their websites," Facebook said in a Thursday blog post. "And they often use their fake accounts to generate fake likes and shares. This artificially inflates engagement for their inauthentic pages and the posts they share, misleading people about their popularity and improving their ranking in news feed."

Some pages Facebook removed had large followings of real and fake accounts. Nation in Distress, a conservative meme page, was followed by more than 3 million people, according to the Internet Archive, which stores historical versions of websites and other online content.

Facebook has removed "559 Pages and 251 accounts" in the US "that have consistently broken our rules against spam and coordinated inauthentic behavior." They include:

-Reverb Press
-Right Wing News
-Snowflakes

That said, not all of the accounts with large followings were conservative; Reverb Press, for example, had over 700,000 followers and constantly attacked President Trump and Republicans, who they referred to as "cheating scumbags." 

A third left-leaning page, Reasonable People Unite, posted a screen shot of a Twitter user who said, “Somewhere in America, a teenage girl is listening to her parents defend Brett Kavanaugh and she is thinking to herself, if something like that happens to me, I have nowhere to go." -Washington Post

American's should be outraged at the violation of our Fourth Amendment as it relates to the Public Square today, Social Media = Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and others.  Our Congressmen should be doing everything they can to protect that right!  Senator Lee, Senator Hatch (and his replacement), Representative John Curtis, I am holding you responsible for action against this censorship!  But I am adamantly against regulation.  When a crime is committed the wheels of justice should start turning, and in this case, the DOJ should get involved.

The discovery shows that a year after the Cambridge Analytica scandal exposed how unsecure and widely disseminated Facebook users’ information is online, companies that control that information at every step still haven’t done enough to seal up private data.

"In one instance, Mexico City-based digital platform Cultura Colectiva, openly stored 540 million records on Facebook users, including identification numbers, comments, reactions and account names. The records were accessible and downloadable for anyone who could find them online.

"Another database for a long-defunct app called At the Pool listed names, passwords and email addresses for 22,000 people".

Utah Elected Lure Facebook To Build Massive Data Center In Eagle Mountain Utah

A Facility So Large Eating Up So Much Land & Water Resources Should Be Put To Referendum For Residents To Decide.

Facebook is set to build a new data center in Eagle Mountain that will span nearly one million square feet and represent a $750 million investment in the city.  While the data center, which is set to be completed by 2020, will most likely only bring in about 30 to 50 jobs.  The project named "Project Steeplechase" a collaborative effort by Facebook and Utah Elected Officials was a tight lipped plan to bring the facility to Eagle Mountain Utah.  Facebook has promised to spend at least $100 million to expand the city’s infrastructure to accommodate the project.  The data center will be powered by 100 percent net-new renewable energy through utilization of Rocky Mountain power renewable energy tariffs, and Facebook will purchase its own water rights and construct the required water infrastructure with money from its own pocket. The state would grant Facebook an estimated $150 million in tax breaks for the project’s first phase, with taxes waived for up to 20 years per phase. Those tax breaks may include hundreds of millions of more dollars if the company decides to continue to build on its lot.  The officials who voted on the project chose to approve it if the state could implement a 40-year cap on the agreement.  The data center in its first phase would increase property taxes currently collected for the 490-acre site by 12,000 times.  The data center is set for construction at the Sweetwater Industrial Park between a mink farm and water treatment facility.  The data center is the largest to land in the Beehive State.

“After a thorough search, we selected Eagle Mountain for a number of reasons — it provides good access to renewable energy, a strong talent pool and a great set of partners,” said Facebook’s vice president of data center strategy Rachel Peterson. “Facebook is in it for the long game.”  

The announcement comes almost two years after West Jordan lost out to New Mexico for a massive $2.5 billion Facebook data center.  Utah representative and speaker of the house Greg Hughes joked during the press conference that all he heard about from New Mexico officials since that time was how great Facebook was for their state. 
“This deal has been brought to fruition through cooperation and hard work across multiple agencies and stakeholders, setting an example for the rest of the nation in how to create a win-win economic benefit for our state both now and in the future,” Herbert said in an emailed statement.  The officials who voted on the project chose to approve it if the state could implement a 40-year cap on the agreement.  But, none of them will be in office in half that time and we know that "the more things change, the more they stay the same".

The Facebook Data Center rivals the NSA Data Center In Bluffdale Utah matching its 1 million square feet footprint.  The Bluffdale facility was negotiated in this same "super secret" way behind closed doors out of the public eye, without the residents input.  Anything this large and intrusive, forgoing single family housing or other residential friendly development that doesn't violate the Fourth Amendment for big data, should have been put to referendum before elected officials with dollar signs in their eyes sold residents down the river.  Facebook has a track record of partnering with other corporations like Adobe and Amazon for computer server/storage and building solar farms and wind turbines that complete the eye-sore Facebook and NSA Data produce.  One question... will Facebook Data Center demand the same UHP/LE security now under way at NSA Data Center Bluffdale?  And, given whistleblower from Cambridge Analytica's disclosure of how Facebook was used in the 2016 election and CEO Mark Zuckerberg's testimony before Congress, Utahans should be furious about housing such a facility, but Utah, for the most part, is still asleep!

Cambridge Analytica - The Pin That Pricked Zuckerberg's Facebook Bubble and Deflated The American Economy

 

 

Political Activists in America have been trying to get money out of elections for decades.  Just like the changing Tax Code, the “players” will just adjust.  The same way George Soros keeps his Billions in off shore accounts to shelter it from the IRS, so it is with Campaign Financing, filter it through non-profits and Political Action Committees (PACs) and you can get millions of dollars flowing to your campaign.  These groups and organizations will also be used in your propaganda campaign to formulate a message to garner political support and to smear your opponent in an effort to bring you the win.  The linchpin to formulating an overall game plan is what is called Data Mining.  It’s not to say it’s never been used in decades past, but today it’s not door knockers or printed survey’s coming through snail mail, it’s Big Data!  Data obtained, many times, covertly, although online surveys may still play a part in it.  We are talking now about “likes, shares and comments” and such, most obtained by CIA’s brainchild Facebook.  This Data Mining was used to bring convictions in the Oregon Occupation and Bundy Ranch Trials in 2016 and 2017, so this is very real and a serious problem!  A recent article in British Media revealed how one corporation is being deployed in American elections and throughout the world using this same data and repackaging it and feeding it back through those same channels ie. social media to win elections.  The British Media station Channel 4 conducted an undercover investigation of Cambridge Analytica hired by Donald Trump for his election campaign and, it appears, is bursting the financial bubble of the US Economy and Mark Zuckerberg himself.  An insider reveals how they use groups, PACs, Social Media and cover their tracks by setting up phony groups/companies and self-destructing email in order to operate incognito and make “puppets” out of candidates and stifle congressional investigations.  Make no mistake.  Although Channel 4 calls Hillary Clinton to get her take on the tactics revealed by their report, she is no saint in this scenario.  She just got beat this time around and it’s “sour grapes”.  The left also employ these same tactics.  The report is as follows…

Undercover secrets of Trump’s data firm

An investigation by Channel 4 News has revealed how Cambridge Analytica claims it ran ‘all’ of President Trump’s digital campaign – and may have broken election law. As the report went on air, the firm announced it has suspended chief executive Alexander Nix, pending a full investigation.

"An undercover investigation by Channel 4 News has revealed how Cambridge Analytica claims it ran key parts of the presidential campaign for Donald Trump.

The British data company was secretly filmed discussing coordination between Trump’s campaign and outside groups – an activity which is potentially illegal.

Executives claimed they “ran all the digital campaign, the television campaign and our data informed all the strategy” for President Trump.

In the third part of a Channel 4 News investigation into Cambridge Analytica, bosses also talked about:  The full scale of their pivotal work in Trump’s election win How they avoid Congressional investigations into their foreign clients

- Setting up proxy organizations to feed untraceable messages onto social media

- Using a secret email system where messages self-destruct and leave no trace

- Cambridge Analytica’s involvement in the “Defeat Crooked Hilary” brand of attack ads

In a series of meetings filmed at London hotels over four months, between November 2017 and January 2018 an undercover reporter for Channel 4 News posed as a fixer for a wealthy client hoping to get candidates elected in Sri Lanka.

UPDATE: Cambridge Analytica have announced they have suspended chief executive Alexander Nix pending a full investigation. They said: “In the view of the board Mr Nix’s recent comments secretly recorded by Channel 4 News do not represent the values or operations of the firm.”

‘We ran all the digital campaign’

The company says their work with data and research allowed Mr Trump to win with a narrow margin of “40,000 votes” in three states providing victory in the electoral college system, despite losing the popular vote by more than 3 million votes.

The election was plagued by allegations of fake news and smears on social media, along with the alleged attempt by Russia to influence the outcome.

Mr Nix boasted about Cambridge Analytica’s work for Trump, saying: “We did all the research, all the data, all the analytics, all the targeting, we ran all the digital campaign, the television campaign and our data informed all the strategy.”

Separately, Mr Turnbull described how the company could create proxy organizations to discreetly feed negative material about opposition candidates on to the Internet and social media.

He said: “Sometimes you can use proxy organizations who are already there. You feed them. They are civil society organizations.. Charities or activist groups, and we use them – feed them the material and they do the work...

“We just put information into the bloodstream to the internet and then watch it grow, give it a little push every now and again over time to watch it take shape. And so this stuff infiltrates the online community and expands but with no branding – so it’s unattributed, untraceable.”

Cambridge Analytica’s senior executives were also filmed discussing a twin-track strategy to campaigning, putting out positive messages through the official Donald J Trump for President campaign, while negative material was pushed out through outside organizations.

Cambridge Analytica’s chief data scientist Dr Tayler said: “As part of it, sometimes you have to separate it from the political campaign itself. So in America you know there are independent expenditure groups running behind the campaign... Super PACs. Political action committees.

“So, campaigns are normally subject to limits about how much money they can raise. Whereas outside groups can raise an unlimited amount. So the campaign will use their finite resources for things like persuasion and mobilization and then they leave the ‘air war’ they call it, like the negative attack ads to other affiliated groups.”

In a different meeting, Mr Turnbull described how the company created the “Defeat Crooked Hilary” brand of attack ads, that were funded by the Make America Number 1 super- PAC and watched more than 30 million times during the campaign.

Coordination between an official election campaign and any outside groups is illegal under US election law. Cambridge Analytica deny wrongdoing, insisting a strict firewall separated out their activity and that they were transparent about their work on political campaigns and PACs.

‘No paper trail’

In one exchange Alexander Nix revealed the company used a secret self-destructing email system that leaves no trace. He said: “No-one knows we have it, and secondly we set our... emails with a self-destruct timer... So you send them and after they’ve been read, two hours later, they disappear. There’s no evidence, there’s no paper trail, there’s nothing.”

Mr Nix also belittled representatives on the House Intelligence Committee to whom he gave evidence in 2017. He claims Republican members asked just three questions. “After five minutes – done.”  “They’re politicians, they’re not technical. They don’t understand how it works,” he said.

Mr Nix further claimed that Democrats on the Committee are motivated by “sour grapes”.

He said: “They don’t understand because the candidate never, is never involved. He’s told what to do by the campaign team.”

“So the candidate is the puppet?,” the undercover reporter asked.  “Always,” replied Mr Nix.

He added that his firm could avoid any US investigation into its foreign clients. “I’m absolutely convinced that they have no jurisdiction...,” he said. “We’ll say none of your business.”

The meetings involved Mr Nix, along with Mark Turnbull, Managing Director Political Global, and Dr Alex Tayler, the company’s chief data scientist.

‘Very disturbing’

Defeated presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has told Channel 4 News how she faced a “massive propaganda effort” during the election – and questioned if Cambridge Analytica helped the Russians in their alleged attempt to influence the election outcome.

In an exclusive interview filmed in October 2017 to promote her book, she said: “There was a new kind of campaign that was being run on the other side – that nobody had ever faced before. Because it wasn’t just all about me. It was about how to suppress voters who were inclined to vote for me.

“When you have a massive propaganda effort to prevent people from thinking straight, because they’re being flooded with false information and you have people who are searching.. trying to make sense of it. But every search engine, every site they go into is repeating these fabrications. Then yes It affected the thought processes of voters.”

The former candidate also questioned whether Cambridge Analytica were involved in the Russia’s alleged attempt to influence the election, calling the possibility “very disturbing”.

Cambridge Analytica strongly deny any involvement and say any such allegation is false.

Clinton said: “So you’ve got CA, you’ve got the Republican National Committee which of course has always done data collection and analysis and you’ve got the Russians. And the real question is how did the Russians know how to target their messages so precisely to undecided voters in Wisconsin or Michigan or Pennsylvania – that is really the nub of the question.

“So if they were getting advice from say Cambridge Analytica or someone else about OK here are the 12 voters in this town in Wisconsin – that’s whose Facebook pages you need to be on to send these messages that indeed would be very disturbing.”

‘Absurd’ allegations' 

Tonight, a Cambridge Analytica spokesman said: “CA has never claimed it won the election for President Trump. This is patently absurd. We are proud of the work we did on that campaign, and have spoken in many public forums about what we consider to be our contribution to the campaign.”

On campaign finance violations, the firm said: “Cambridge Analytica has been completely transparent about our simultaneous work on both political campaigns and political action committees (including publicly declaring our work on both with FEC filings). We have strict firewall practices to ensure no coordination between regulated groups, including the teams working on non-coordinated campaigns being physically separated, using different servers and being banned from communicating with each other.”

On Russia investigation: “As one of the companies that played a prominent role in the 2016 election campaign, Cambridge Analytica is committed to supporting and assisting the House Intelligence Committee investigation into Russian interference in the election in any way that we can. CA is not under investigation, and there is no suggestion of any wrongdoing by the company. They deny any involvement in the alleged Russian attempts and say such an allegation is entirely false.”

And on Proton Mail, Cambridge Analytica said: “It’s common practice to use encrypted communications. We take information security with the utmost seriousness, and for high profile clients using maintain stream email providers simply doesn’t provide a suitable level of security.”
